A bit about the Available Animals that we are Fostering

"Hopefully we don't have many foster or special needs animals featured on this page"

Occasionally an animal comes to us that was born with a birth defect or a well healed scar, such as tattered ear, missing toes, etc., when this happens, we list it as ‘Special Needs' and describe some of the details in the comment section, next to their picture. We never knowingly offer any animal that we feel needs immediate medical attention!

We are independent breeders who strongly feel that everyone has a responsibility to prevent all pets from becoming homeless.  Although as breeders our focus is on the health and well-being of a couple of unique species, we will also do what we can to prevent any animals from ending up homeless or being surrendered to a shelter.  We are not actively involved with a not for profit rescue group therefore the money we incur caring for any animal that we take in to foster is our own.and the time we spend finding homes for them is voluntary ring  We are only able to take in a couple animals at a time and only if we have the space and time, When we agree to fostering an animal, they can stay with us for as long as they need to. Every animal that we take in is quarantined prior to making them available for new homes. While in quarantine they are dewormed and treated with a topical flea and mite treatment. After being quarantined they will be cared for in a home environment, away from our breeding animals, and they will receive the same specialized care that our personal pets do. They are fed a proper healthy diet and monitored and assessed for behavioral issues. When/if they appear to be okay to go to a new home they are featured on this page.

Our goal is to find the best permanent homes for these pets that we can. But, that is not always easy. Most of the animals that we take in to foster seldom have much history on them. We seldom can verify their age or how they were cared for. Every now and again a few animals that we take in are mature and have already developed their own habits. Although the majority don't have bad habits, some do, and it might take a bit longer for them to adjust to their new homes.

Delivery or shipping options are not available for animals in foster because before we agree to let any animal go to anyone, we will need to talk first. When you call us, we will probably ask a lot of questions as we are carefully trying to choose people that we feel are most suitable to provide care for this particular pet.  After speaking together if we both agree to move forward with this purchase/adoption, you must first agree to meet and interact with the pet in our home and use this an opportunity to decide if you still feel that that this is the right pet for you.  (To schedule an appoint in advance a Appointment Reservation Fee is required )

Unless you are very serious and 100% ready to make this type of commitment

NEVER let the low cost tempt you into purchasing any animal!

Most people who are experienced with keeping pets certainly know that there are always costs associated with caring for animals properly. Remembering the costs incurred when we got our first pets, we know that we need to purchase all the supplies and prepare for the pets’ arrival to our home i.e. pet food, treats, toys, grooming supplies, habitat, training aids, etc. . The bill adds up quickly and it usually ends up costing more than we originally budgeted for. Then after paying for the pet, giving it time to settle in to its new home, we need to take it to a veterinarian for a check up, once again adding to the initial costs. Then, for the rest of its life, we need budget. We’ll need to be prepared to buy pet food and purchase new items that will be needed to replace, and update worn out ones. We will also need to budget and prepared to pay for an annual check-ups and emergency vet care.

The price for a foster animal is usually considerably lower than one of our selectively raised babies. Even though the price is very reasonable and the cost for us to take care of foster pets far exceeds the price we ask, our priority is to find them a caring home and  only ask this small fee because we do not believe in giving away free pets. We feel that giving away pets for free, should always be discouraged! Sometimes, even though most people have good intentions, believing they are doing a good thing, always wanting what is best for the pet and for ourselves, sometimes when animals are given away for free, we may be inadvertently attracting people who can not afford to care for a pet or someone who may not be fully prepared to take on the responsibly. As sad as it is, often when someone acquires a pet and can not truly afford to care for it, they may need find a new home for the pet. This action only contributes to the endless cycle of homeless pets. Many people don’t understand or realize how much of a commitment is needed while others are not truly aware of the ongoing fees that they will incur. All animals cost money and do so, for a long time. Sometimes just by asking a small fee is one way, possibly just enough, to make someone rethink their budget, encouraging those who probably should wait, to do so until they are in a better financial position.
